Massage Therapist Barbara Vadovicova Fong is experienced in providing a full range of message therapies. She has provided massage therapy to the Vancouver Whitecaps FC, as well as patients at the Multiple Sclerosis Clinic in New Westminster, and the BC Women’s Hospital & Health Center. She is also skilled in providing weight and personal training, instructing Pilates classes,and coaching artistic gymnastics, ballet and dance.
Besides being a massage therapist, Barbara was a long-time member of the Slovak National Gymnastics Team. She competed internationally in three different gymnastics artistic/dance sports and was a finalist and medalist in several international competitions, most notably:
1993 World University Games in Buffalo
1995 World Cup in Paris
1996 World Championships in Bratislava
1997 World Championship in Perth 1997 World Games in Lahti.
She was also a member of the prep team for the 1988 Seoul Olympics and participated in the 1995 and 1999 World Gymnaestradas in Berlin and Gothenburg.
During her coaching career, she was involved with Flicka Gymnastics in North Vancouver, Salt Spring Gymnastics and the Icelandic Gymnastics Federation. Although she was able to avoid major injuries and compete in gymnastics into her thirties, during her coaching career she ruptured both her Achilles tendons, which made her realize the importance of a systematic approach to exercise and therapies to prolong and enhance anyone’s lifestyle and health.
Barbara earned her RMT Diploma from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy, a Recreational Leadership Diploma from Langara College, and a Doctorate in Kinanthropology and a Master’s Degree in Physical Education and Sport from Comenius University.
