On Friday, Madeline Edwards, 17, and partner ZhaoKai Pang, 19, of Burnaby, won the bronze medal in ice dancing at the ISU world junior figure skating championships in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Edwards and Pang, fifth in the short program, earned the third-best free dance score and finished with an overall total of 139.65. Americans Kaitlin Hawayek and Jean-Luc Baker took first with a 157.12, while Russians Anna Yanovskaya and Sergey Mozgov were second, at 155.16.
They would seem to be on pace to be in contention for a spot at the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
